GMT Corp., a global industry leader in enterprise workforce management and performance optimization solutions, today announced that the Melbourne 2008 Homeless World Cup has selected GMT Planet® to manage over 1,000 staff and volunteers across multiple venues for the duration of the event. The company will donate a fully hosted version of the company’s flagship workforce management solution to the event organizers in addition to the company’s supporting SureServices™ professional services offering.
With supporters including UEFA, Nike, and Manchester United, the Homeless World Cup is an annual, international football tournament uniting teams of people who are homeless and excluded to take a once in a lifetime opportunity to represent their country and change their lives forever. Since the event’s founding in 2003, the tournament has triggered and supports grass roots football projects working with over 30,000 homeless and excluded people in over 60 nations every year. Melbourne is the host city for this year’s tournament from 1-7 December 2008.
Requiring an extremely flexible, scalable and reliable workforce management solution to manage staffing and scheduling for the dynamic and fast-paced event, Melbourne 2008 Homeless World Cup organisers conducted an assessment of the leading workforce scheduling systems. Citing GMT Planet’s ability to rapidly reconfigure staffing based on changing conditions and requirements, organisers selected GMT to meet their specific technology and process criteria. With GMT Planet’s dashboards and comprehensive reporting capabilities, organisers will have the visibility and control required to ensure adequate coverage and centrally create and recalibrate staffing plans for all event venues based on staff and volunteer availability and individual skill sets.
“We are honoured to again be trusted with the responsibility of delivering a dependable workforce scheduling system for a worldwide event,” said Eddie Starke, vice president of marketing and business development for GMT. “Our selection by the event organisers is a further indication that when organisations need a scalable scheduling solution, GMT delivers. We look forward to playing a significant role in making the Melbourne 2008 Homeless World Cup a great success.”
